Athletics sign Kurt Suzuki to four-year extension

The Athletics have given catcher Kurt Suzuki a four year extension worth 16 million dollars, according to MLB.com. Suzuki, 26, is hitting .257 with 10 home runs in 68 games this season. He is a career .269 hitter.

Suzuki is a solid backstop, working well with his pitchers and pitching coach. So far this season, the A's pitchers own a 3.36 ERA, thanks in part to Suzuki.

This extension locks Suzuki up through years that his salary could have jumped beyond the four million dollars he could've received in arbitration. A solid, money saving move for the A's.
