Rangers interested in Cantu, Wigginton

UPDATE 7/26 11:56 AM: The Rangers are in "deep talks" for Cantu with the Marlins tweets USA Today's Bob Nightengale.  The Rangers are also looking into the possibility of adding Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee to the mix.  The Rangers also are in talks about Ty Wigginton, Mike Lowell, and Wes Helms.

7/25 9:59 PM:  According to MLB.com's Chris Cox, the Texas Rangers are interested in Florida Marlins corner infielder Jorge Cantu and Orioles utility man Ty Wigginton.

The Ragners, have already acquired Cliff Lee to help bolster the Rotation and now they are looking for a big bat to play some first base and third base.

With Justin Smoak gone to Seattle, the Rangers were forced to call up first baseman Chris Davis to play first base.  They are now searching for a backup or platoon for Davis at first base.

It is still unclear if the Marlins are open to dealing any of their players, including Cantu as reports indicate that they will hold onto Dan Uggla, Cody Ross, and Leo Nunez; who have all been in the midst of trade talk.

But with the emergence of Gaby Sanchez and the hot play of Emilio Bonifacio, the Marlins may be open to dealing Cantu.

For the Orioles, all signs point to Ty Wigginton being dealt.  The All-Star utility man has been a bright spot to the Oriole lineup and is able to play all of the infield positions.

I really hope the Rangers get Cantu

so the Giants don’t

I still think Lowell is better than the other options.

Post season experience.

Also, the Sox are looking for catching, so we could probably get him straight up for Taylor Teagarden.
