Print7/28/10 The LA Dodgers picked up OF Scott Podsednik in a trade with the KC Royals.
Prior to the trade Xavier Paul was playing left in Manny Ramirez's absence (15 day DL) and has hit only .252 with 11 RBI. Scott Pod makes a great pickup because one thing they lacked is speed. Rafael Furcal (16 SB) and Matt Kemp (15 SB) are the only base runners of the lineup with more than 10 SB, Scott Pod has 30 SB. He also hits .310, thats higher than everyone except Furcal and the injured Manny Ramirez.
He is exactly what the Dodgers need.
This weekend they ply the rival San Francisco Giants, who are the wild card leaders with a 3 game lead over the Dodgers.

They might have a chance at taking the wild card,
but I don’t think stolen bases will get them enough wins to take the NL West title.
The Padres got stronger
So you can count out the Dodgers in the Division race but can they take on the Phils, NL Central runner up and Giants?
They seem to be really far behind the Giants,
which will be a tough 7 games to overtake, but with all the players they added recently, they might have the momentum to take the wild card. I just don’t have the feeling that they have the momentum to overtake the Padres 9 games back. Unless the Padres AND Giants have a bad month, this isn’t happening.
