According to FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Colorado Rockies have decided that they will be sellers come the July 31st Trade Deadline.

The Rockies were rumored to be in the hunt for Marlins' corner infielder Jorge Cantu, but the team has pulled out of the race as the Rangers or Giants remain the likely destination for Cantu.

The Rockies will look to move starting pitcher Aaron Cook, first baseman/outfielder Brad Hawpe, and reliever Joe Beimel

The market for Cook doesn't look very good.  The Phillies appear to be the only suitor for Cook, but they are currently in talks to acquire Roy Oswalt from the Astros.

Beimel could attract interest as he has had a nice year and is left handed.  A team like the Red Sox or Yankees could look into Beimel as the price for Scott Downs appears to high for their tastes.

Hawpe, could draw interest, however it is more likely to be moved in August via waivers

Things are not that bad

In the NL West that is. The Rockies are struggling, but things are so very mellow that anything could happen. In less than three weeks we could be talking about how the Rockies are one of the hottest teams in baseball and leading the division a half game over San Francisco and LA while nothing is going right for San Diego.

I agree 100%

Im shocked they are giving up so early… just look at 2007 I’d think they would know not to give up.
