Padres Acquire Miguel Tejada
The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to send Miguel Tejada to the San Diego Padres in return for right handed pitching prospect Wynn Pelzer. Tejada is hitting .269/.308/.362 with 7 home runs and 39 RBI's. The deal was likely made to add some offense to the Padres and to help the ailing infield, with David Eckstein on the DL.
Wynn Pelzer is 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA in AA San Antonio this season. Opposing hitters are batting .277 against the hurler, with lefties hitting .298 and righties hitting .263 against him. Pelzer was the seventh rated Orioles prospect going into the season.
Orioles prospect Josh Bell has been called up to replace Tejada on the Orioles roster.
