Reds interested in Cliff Lee?
The Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that the Reds have contacted the Mariners about the availability of pitcher Cliff Lee. Lee is having another stellar season, sporting an 8-3 record with a 2.34 ERA and 89 strike outs to just 6 walks, a very impressive total.
The Reds came in to today 1 1/2 games ahead of the Cardinals, and could use some added depth in the rotation down the stretch. Lee would give the Reds a serious chance at the NL title, something that has been out of reach for a very long time.
What would it cost them?
If the Reds want to get a deal done fast, they could look into offering Jay Bruce or a young starting pitcher.

I know I personally contacted the Mariners about this deal as well.
The Enquirer didn’t report that but a lot of stuff was going on in Cincy yesterday.
Today, with less news on the horizon, they may ask me to weigh in on this.
I didn’t ask the other 28 teams if they had contacted the Mariners about Lee.
I assume some of them didn’t.
It pays to not assume to much when Jay Bruce is having a breakout season.
