Orioles place closer Mike Gonzalez on waivers

The Boston Globe is reporting that the Orioles have placed closer Mike Gonzalez on waivers. Gonzalez has only appeared in 12 games this season, but is already 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA. Gonzalez owns a career 2.65 ERA in over 300 career appearances, so his ability to command the strike zone should not be questioned. 

Putting Gonzalez in a winning environment could change his slow start, but the 32 year old may be tough to move now considering he has 6 million dollars remaining on his contract after this season.
