Mariners fire manager Don Wakamatsu
According to reports from Seattle, the Mariners have fired manager Don Wakamatsu and pitching coach Rick Adair. The Mariners had high hopes coming into this season with a pitching staff lead by Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee. After falling some 10 1/2 games back in the division, the Mariners unloaded Lee to the Texas Rangers in hopes that top prospect Justin Smoak would spark the franchise.
However, both Smoak and Wakamatsu vastly underperformed and it was time to make a change. Add the Mariners to the list that already includes the Cubs and Braves for teams looking for a new manager following this season. Who knows, maybe Lou Piniella would return to Seattle for one final hoorah!

I like the move for Seattle
Things looked so promising to start the season and have gone straight downhill. Change is needed.

Not so sure about this move
I think Zduriencik didn’t set this team up as well as he could have. Figgins and Bradley have busted, Junior retired. At one point this year, Casey Kotchman was their 3 hitter. And while Franklin Gutierrez is a good player, having him in the three-hole is not much of an improvement.
