Diamondbacks very interested in Kevin Towers for GM post

ESPN.com is reporting that the Diamondbacks have "significant interest" in adding Yankees advisor Kevin Towers, who was the longest tenured GM before being fired by the Padres in 2009. The hard work put in by Towers and his staff can be seen with the 2010 Padres, who are in first place by one game with about three weeks left in the season.

Towers is very well connected in baseball and would work wonders for the Diamondbacks, who in 2007 made it to the NLCS but are now one game from being eliminated from playoff contention.

The Diamondbacks are considering a handful of candidates, both internal and external. Interim GM Jerry DiPoto and assistant GM Peter Woodfork will be considered as well as Dodgers assistants Logan White and De Jon Watson.
