Mets pitcher Johan Santana done for season, recovery time unknown
Mets pitcher Johan Santana will have shoulder surgery to repair an anterior capsule in his throwing shoulder, according to ESPN.com's Adam Rubin. Santana pitched very well in the second half but fell victim to poor run support and an even worse bullpen. He finishes the season with a 2.98 ERA and an 11-9 record.
Santana told reporters he wasn't sure if he would be ready for Opening Day or not, leading to further doubt for the Mets' pitching staff. Santana has another three years and 77.5 million dollars left on his contract, with a 5.5 million dollar buyout for the 2014 season.
