Reds acquire Willie Bloomquist from Royals

The Reds have acquired infielder Willie Bloomquist from the Royals in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Bloomquist won't be eligible for the postseason roster but is a nice addition for down the stretch.

Bloomquist, 32, is hitting .265 with a .298 on-base percentage in 72 games this season.

Bloomquist can play all over the infield and outfield, so the Reds should take advantage of his versatility to give some of their regular plays additional days off.
