Royals expected to shop pitcher Zack Greinke
The Royals are expected to shop starting pitcher Zack Greinke this offseason, according to Newsday. Greinke, who is under contract through the 2012 season, is 9-12 this season in 30 starts.
Greinke, the 2009 Cy Young recipient, would be a very dangerous pitcher on a winning ball club. The Royals are still several years away from being competitive and could move Greinke while his value is fairly high for a handful of promising prospects.
Several teams, including the Yankees, Angels, and Brewers, have showed interest in the past in the right-handed ace.
In all likelihood, the Royals will hold on to Greinke this offseason and start shopping him next season.

If I were GMDM
any bid for Greinke would start at 5 of top 10 over all prospects and 3 of them would be from the top 5. Anything less and we would not even talk.
5 top 10 prospects? I guess you're referring to the Teixeira deal...
I doubt we’ll see that again soon… It’s not like Greinke is signed for 3 or 4 yrs… just 2.

Even if he is signed for just two years
The Royals will want at least three “Top Five” level prospects. The problem is that it will have to be at least a three team deal.
Do the Angels even have the pieces?
I don’t think the Angels could get Grienke (if they are even truly in the hunt).
In any case, they have Weaver, Haren, Santana, and Piniero all pitching very well. Is starting pitching really the hurdle there?
