Cubs trade Tom Gorzelanny to Nationals

Stay connected for news and updates

The Cubs unloaded left-handed pitcher Tom Garzelanny to the Nationals in exchange for three prospects, according to ESPN.com. The Cubs will receive outfield prospect Michael Burgess, a supplemental first-round pick back in 2007. The two other prospects have not been named yet.

Gorzelanny posted a 7-9 record with a 4.09 ERA for the Cubs last season, but his salary hike did not match how the Cubs viewed their payroll.

Three prospects is a nice haul.
