Remaining Free Agent Starting Pitchers

Any recent rumors on the remaining starting pitcher out there?

Justin Duchscherer wanted to sign with someon willing to let him start.  Pirates had shown some interest, but have seemed to back off.

Bartolo Colon is drawing some interest from a few teams (Cleveland, Texas, and New York).

Freddy Garcia was last rumored to be on the Yankees radar but that talk has quieted down.

Chris Young was rumored to be signing with the Mets for 2.5 million.

Jeremy Bonderman's name hasn't come up in any rumors and I assume he's still available?

Any chance Duchscherer would sign on with a team as a reliever and is Bonderman looking to move to the bullpen (similar to Jeff Weaver)?

Justin Duchscherer

Even if the Twins don’t lose out on Carl Pavano, I wouldn’t be surprised if Duchscherer is in a Twins uniform to start 2011. The Twins have a recent history of giving injured pitchers a chance.

One theory on the Duke

That I’ve heard/read is that there is a long term relationship with the A’s and the chances are he’ll be in Oakland in 2011. I’d love him in Tampa’s bullpen.

Duchscherer

There was some talk earlier this winter about the Red Sox trying to re-aquire him after foolishly giving him away years ago,but they seemed to be finished for the winter..If he is healthy, and that is a big if, Oakland could use him a a spot starter,or out of the pen.Has anyone heard about the condition of his arm?

Pavano Signing

Will this free up some movement among these guys?

Pavano

Would love to see him go to the Nats. They are trying so hard to improve and I admire that. In that big park, facing pitchers, he could do very well. Otherwise, there are two NL teams who could win their division by signing him. The Cubs and the Brewers. Both have dramatically improved their staffs. If either were to go that one extra mile,Pavano could make the difference. Both teams would then feature 5 quality starters. In the AL, Texas really needs him, but if the Angels were to add him to Weaver, Haren, Santana,Pineiro, they wouled have 5 good starters. They need to spend some money before it’s to late.

Chris Young

Read somewhere that his medicals were still a concern and the offer from the Mets woudl be only around 1 mil.

Nationals

Nationals may also be interested in Pitcher Chris Young
According to MLB Trade Rumors

I read that

interesting, the Nats would have Wang and Young…two guys looking to come off injuries taking up 2/5 of their rotation.

If you’re a Nats fan the question would be “Why Not?”…it’s not like their a lot of high value arms left in Trade or on the Market.

Here we are nearing the last week of January and a lot of these arms are still out there. Nearing the time to stop looking for a ML contract and take that NRI?

Almost Gone

The Duke to the O’s.

Freddy and Bartolo to the Yanks.

Chris Young to the Mets.

Bonderman may be signed by this weekend in Cleveland to a major league deal.

Long off-season coming to an end.
