The Padres and Braves are the favorites for free agent first baseman Jorge Cantu, according to the Houston Examiner. Cantu owns a career .274 line but hit .256 with 11 home runs between the Marlins and Rangers this past season.
Cantu would likely serve as a reserve player wherever he winds up, but he does have the potential to put up upwards of 15 home runs, so if he can see 250 to 300 at-bats, he may be able to put up some respectable numbers.
