Giants sign former MLBer, turned All-Star Japanese closer

The Giants made a very interesting signing out of the Pacific Rim, bringing right-handed pitcher Marc Kroon back to the big leagues for the first time since 2004. Kroon, 38, posted a 2.68 ERA in over 300 innings in Japan and has seen his fastball reach 101 on more than one occasion.

Kroon will have to earn a spot in the bullpen but it is in no way out of the realm of possibility to see him land a role right out of spring training. He will be relatively unknown to most teams, but will be carrying loads of experience and confidence after a successful run for the Yokohama BayStars.

I've been following Marc Kroon's career for sometime, having interviewed him prior to the 2008 season. You can read the interview HERE.
