Free agent Rafael Soriano open to pitching for Yankees
The agent of free agent pitcher Rafael Soriano told ESPN that his client is open to setting up for the Yankees. The Yankees lost Kerry Wood to the Cubs and need someone to bridge the gap to Mariano Rivera.
In his first and only season with the Rays, Soriano posted a 1.73 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP in 64 appearances. He owns a lifetime 2.73 ERA and will certainly give the Yankees stability in the later innings.
The Yankees are also reportedly looking into signing free agent starter Jeremy Bonderman.

Soriano
So typical. Players want to play for the Yankees in the worst way..In the last couple of days, you heard Soria say he would love to go to the Yankee’s,where he would set up for Rivera. Heck, he was better then Rivera last year. Now, Soriano. So,we are talking about top of the line relief pitchers willing to set up for Rivera just to play in NY.And these guys don’t know when he will retire. He is so good, he may pitch for another 5 years. That means these guys are willing to give up their status for less money, for the rest of their career.Does this make sense.CC would have gotten alot more satisfacton winning a ring for Milwaukee then the Yankees. Wouldn’t you rather set an entire region on fire with a WS? No! He had to play for NY. This is why it was such a thrill for the average fan to see Cliff Lee go to Philly. The highlight of the off season. GO PHILLIES!
