The Boston Red Sox declined their 2012 club options on right-handed relievers Scott Atchison and Dan Wheeler, the club announced via Twitter.

The team held a club option for Scott Atchison at the major-league minimum plus $0.2 million for 2012. Despite declining Atchison's option, the reliever still remains on the 40-man roster and is arbitration eligible, as Alex Speier of WEEI notes. Don't expect them to tender him a contract, however.

The team held a club option valued at $3 million for Dan Wheeler, who they signed as a free-agent last winter. An option that was guaranteed at $3M with 65 games in 2011, $3.25 million with 70 games in 2011; Wheeler never got to either mark.
