The San Diego Padres and free agent outfielder/first baseman Mark Kotsay agreed on a one-year, $1.25 million contract, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The deal, pending a physical, would reunite Kotsay with his former team.

Kotsay, 36 in December, hit .270/.329/.373 in 255 plate appearances coming off the bench for the Milwaukee Brewers last season. In the grand scheme of things, expect Kotsay to receive playing time in the corner outfield positions for the Padres. This will be Kotsay's second stint with the Padres, as he played center field every day in San Diego from 2001 to 2003.

Kotsay didn't appear on ESPN's Keith Law top 50 free agent rankings, rightfully so. But he did find a spot on Jeff Passan's free agent rankings, coming in at 154th.

154. Mark Kotsay OF: Continued a spectacular five-year run of negative WAR. All right, now. Who's gonna give him a sixth?
