Alex Gonzalez Talking to Giants, Cardinals, Brewers
Some rumors are head-scratchers, other rumors sound right because they were pre-ordained by the whichever mystical forces you believe in. This one is the latter. ESPN Deportes is reporting that the Giants are in talks with free-agent shortstop Alex Gonzalez.:
Alex González me dijo que no jugara con El Caracas.
Sorry, that says he won't play for the Caracas. Here's the real tweet:
- San Fran in Talks with Alex Gonzalez - @Ken_Rosenthal
"Source: Free-agent SS Alex Gonzalez talking to #SFGiants. First reported by ESPN Deportes. #MLB" -
Gonzalez also talking to Cards, Brewers - @SI_JonHeyman: as espn deportes reported, ...
"as espn deportes reported, #SFGiants in on alex gonzalez. so are #STLcards and the brew #crew. grt defender w/ some pop."
Rather than spend the next 70-80 words telling you what you hopefully already know about Alex Gonzalez (he's everything you'd expect in a Brian Sabean shortstop acquisition), why don't we go Oprah on eachother and tell us how this news/rumor makes us feel? My first feeling: JOY -- Reyes and/or Rollins are probably out of the question for the Giants now, and it would be weird if either landed there, wouldn't it?

smh
Just like you did not feel joy when a 34-year old shortstop by the name of Edgar Renteria smashed a 3-run HR off Cliff Lee with 2 outs in the 7th inning of a scoreless Game 5 of the 2010 World Series, right?

You’re adorable.

Who else?
I mean, theres been so much speculation/non speculation about the Giants trading away their entire pitching staff…what better way to sure that up than by signing Alex Gonzalez. Pretty sure it was a week or two ago the Braves asked for Eduardo ’ Sure Hands’ Nunez from the Yankees for this reason.
Gonzalez
as a Red Sox fan who saw him here for two stints, he is a solid shortstop. He had no discipline which gets annoying, but he has some clutch in him and is GREAT defensively.
