PrintJerry Crasnick is reporting the San Diego Padres have signed Jeremy Hermida to a minor league deal:

- Twitter / @jcrasnick - "Hermida, 27, hit .319 in 105 games with #Reds AAA Louisville team last year. He received some feelers from Japan this offseason."
Hermida enters his 8th season, but really hasn't been effective since 2009. He spent 2005-2009 with the then-Florida Marlins, but has bounced around since then, spending stints with Boston, Oakland, and Cincinnati. His best season was 2007, when he hit .296 / .369 / .501, but his career line is rather bleak: .257 / .334 / .415.
