The signing the Minnesota Twins and free-agent starting pitcher Jason Marquis were discussing recently is now official, the Minnesota Twins announced (via FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi). The two sides agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract that will bring Jason Marquis to the American League.
The 33-year-old Marquis is coming off a - well, Jason Marquis kind of season. The righty posted a 4.82 ERA across 179 innings of work (33 starts) with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 1.62 over the span of his two-year deal that he finished with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He'll fill in one of the Twins' rotation spots, that includes righty Carl Pavano and southpaw Francisco Liriano at the front.
