Washington Nationals Sign Mark DeRosa
The Washington Nationals officially announced this morning that they have signed Mark DeRosa to a one year agreement. Last Thursday it had been reported by Jon Heyman from CBS Sports that the Nationals and DeRosa had come to an agreement. It did not become official until today.
The deal is pending a physical. DeRosa was a part of the World Champion San Francisco Giants 2010 team, but last season he missed much of the year due to a wrist injury, He split time with the Cleveland and St. Louis in 2009, where he was very productive for a utility player. He struggled with injuries ever since he signed with the Giants.
Four teams showed interest in signing DeRosa, They were the Nationals, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates. The Giants did show some later interest in DeRosa as well. The Nationals last acquisition had been Gio Gonzalez from the Oakland Athletics, and now they have DeRosa, who should see some decent time.

good luck Nats
Nothing against DeRosa, he seems like a cool guy. But he admitted several times last year he couldn’t hit the ball out of the infield. Maybe this is the year, after 3 years, that it actually heals. The Nats should hold off on stitching him a uni until after the doctors work him over.
