Oh man. It's finally here. Baseball!
The Philadelphia Phillies opened their month-long season of exhibition games by defeating the Florida State Seminoles 8-0 Thursday afternoon in a Spring Training contest in Clearwater, FL. First-base slugger Ryan Howard collected a two-run double during a four-run fourth inning that propelled Philly to its first victory.
More details after the jump...According to SB Nation Philadelphia, seven Phillies pitchers, mostly of Triple-A level, combined for a four-hit shout out:
"Mike Stutes was particularly impressive striking out the side in the sixth," wrote Jason Brewer. "However, Justin De Fratus, Michael Schwimmer & Scott Matheison all threw scoreless innings."
