Wagner to Return to Braves

WASHINGTON- Former Braves closer Billy Wagner has joined the Atlanta ballclub in Washington DC and will begin throwing side sessions preparation to return as the team’s closer in as early as two weeks. Wagner, who neglected to file his retirement papers with the MLB Player’s Union prior to the start of the season, was released by the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday to make room on the team’s 25-man roster, however the veteran lefty was quoted Friday as saying "I enjoy spending time with my family, but I can’t stand sitting by while I know I still have something left." "I’ve talked with Sarah, and she’s totally supportive of my decision."
The Braves have recently named lefty Johnny Venters and rookie flamethrower Craig Kimbrel as co-closers for the team, however in a statement made Friday morning, Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez said "the team needs Billy’s presence at the end of the game, plain and simple." "I have full confidence in Johnny and Craig, but it really comes down to experience."
The Braves exercised the team’s right to Wagner’s services by way of a deal that was completed with the player’s union as part of the pitcher’s severance from the team.
"We’re ready to have him back and throwing" braves 3rd baseman Chipper Jones said. "He’s a great clubhouse guy and a force in the ninth inning."
Middle reliever Christian Martinez is expected to be optioned to AAA Gwinnett upon Wagner’s return.

Need An Update
Well, it’s nearly May, and we haven’t heard anymore about this. Will it happen? One thing for sure, the Braves have no chance without him.
