Things couldn't get much worse for Vin Mazzaro tonight, at least professionally. After a historically bad outing, he's now being optioned in favor of Everett Teaford, according to the twitter feed for royals.mlblogs.com. Teaford, 26 years old, has been on the watch list of informed Royals fans for some time now, and has compiled a 4.08 ERA over five minor league seasons.
This also answers the earlier question of who the Royals would call up now that Davies is on the DL.
