According to Alex Speier of WEEI.com, the Red Sox have designated Daniel Nava for assignment. In a corresponding move, they called up Drew Sutton from Triple-A Pawtucket. The Red Sox also optioned Jose Iglesias to make room for Sutton on the 25-Man, according to Speier.

Nava was in Pawtucket at the time of the DFA. Having not spent much time in the Majors since the middle of last season, a potential DFA was likely in the Cards. Sure enough, it happened today. Sutton, the former Red was claimed by the Sox last December. He's mainly a utility player and is the ideal player for Terry Francona's crew.
