Josh Outman has been called up by the Oakland A's and Jerry Blevins has been designated for assignment, according to Oakland's PR-run twitter page.
Blevins' results for 2011 include a 4.40 ERA in just 14.1 innings, giving up almost one walk per inning (13 total) and two home runs. At 27, these numbers are somewhat typical of his career (WAR 2008: 0.6; 2009: 0.1; 2010: 0.5; 2011: -0.3), Oakland is looking to give Josh Outman a shot at something better while attempting to find a trade partner for Blevins.
This will be Outman's first work in the big leagues since 2009, where he went 67 innings with a 3.48 ERA and compiled a 1.4 WAR, also with Oakland. He'll start tonight against the Angels.
