According to the Tampa Tribune, the Rays have claimed RHP Jay Buente off Waivers from the Marlins. In a corresponding move, they've designated Rob Delaney for assignment.

Buente appeared in only one Major League game this season after he took Josh Johnson's place in the rotation following his DL stint. The right-hander has posted a 7.47 ERA in 14 Major League innings, thus the Marlins exposing him through waivers was not all that surprising.
