New to MLBDD? Introduce yourself.
The MLBDD community is growing by leaps and bounds, and it's high time we break the ice. Since we have such a big net of teams, beat writers, experts, analysts, PR departments, and sometimes-accurate rumor mongers, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle.
What do we want to know? Nothing you wouldn't tell a friend. I'll start:
I'm Justin, and I'm from Kansas City. I'm a huge Chiefs and Royals fan, and I occasionally even think they'll win. I'm married and have a couple kids. My professional background is in public relations, project management, and now, writing, editing, and a touch of graphic design (infographics, mostly). My favorite things include films like Matrix and Gladiator, music like the Killers, 311, Depeche Mode, and Foster the People, books like Otherland. I visit Arrowhead Pride, Wired Science, NeoGAF, TPM, The Atlantic, TheNewRepublic, and Baseball Nation on a daily basis (which all serve as constant inspiration).
I've been writing for SB Nation for several years now, starting back in 2009 with Beyond the Box Score, the best sabermetric community on the net. I took the helm here at MLB Daily Dish last year and am completely excited to see what we can continue to build.
Tell me about you. Which teams do you claim? Which players are your favorites? Where are you from, what movies do you like, and what music do you listen to? Finally, what sites do you visit most?
Thanks to everyone that has already joined. We really appreciate your membership and I can't wait to get to know you. Please don't ever hesitate to reach out to any or all of us on the masthead. We're here for you.
Justin

I'm Chris!
If you couldn’t tell.
I’m an engineer by trade, but I write baseball on the side. I got my start at the now defunct Process Report and was eventually picked up by Justin to write for Beyond the Box Score. Now I’m writing here and at Baseball Prospectus.
I follow the Rays, Packers, Brewers and Ducks, but none of them in the live-and-die sort of way. In 10 years I will be to Nick Markakis what Rich Lederer was to Bert Blyleven.
I’m Jason, and I’m now in the Sacramento, CA area. Been an A’s fan as long as I can remember, but really enjoy baseball in general. I’m married to a wonderful woman who has grown up as a Cubs fan her whole life, so that can be an interesting dynamic at times as well. I am also a Chicago Bears fan, and can’t seem to quite give up on my Warriors.
I work as an accountant by day, but got my start writing at my now-retired blog, the super-creatively named Jason’s Baseball Blog. I’ve been a contributing writer over at Fake Teams for the past year and a half now, and recently started contributing here at MLBDD as well.
I’m looking forward to continuing to contribute at both sites, and also to seeing this community grow in the coming months as well.

Yo!
I’m Satchel, and yes, that’s my real name. Straight up, on my birth certificate. I suppose we can blame my name for my natural gravitation towards sports, and baseball in particular.
By day, I’m a soon-to-be sophomore at American University in Washington, D.C., conveniently also the home of SB Nation’s offices. I’m majoring in journalism there, and I hope to become a full-time media thingamajig at some point in the near future. There wasn’t a major for trying to be funny online, so I’m opting to go the journalism route.
I actually began my online writing here at MLBDD back in 2009, but I left the site for a while in order to focus on my work for Beyond the Box Score, one of the premier saber websites around. After Justin took over here, I couldn’t help but come crawling back (well, it was more of a saunter), and now we’re working to make MLBDD your ultimate source for timely baseball news and analysis. You can continue to find my work over at BTB from time to time, coupled with some of most insightful and forward-thinking saber minds you’ll find.
You guys might be wondering what the hell this site is going to do for the next few months as we await free agent season and all of that jazz, but we’ll be churning out original content more and more as the games slow down.
Later, alligators.

From Toronto. I’m a huge Jay’s fan, and I’m pretty confident in our GM. He makes it seem like the championship is coming home very soon.
I’m at Engineering student in TO, absolutely love watching Ricky Romero pitch. I’m Indian (East), but grew up here mostly. I watch a ton of movies, just watched the Source Code. Good movie, recommend it. I like music in general, but prefer Rock, Pop and Rap, in that order. I’m rather new to baseball, so I like to read as much as I can about the Jays, one of the most frequented sites is this one, BBB, fangraphs, batters box, and Tao of Stieb. Tao just landed a job to post on the official rogers site, so congratulations to him. Right now, I’m following twitter and hoping we get a lot of our remaining picks signed. It was a nice draft for us.
Nice to see that you guys are doing a meet and greet.

Growing up in the easy bay, I’ve been a Giants fan — and eventually started up a Giants blog in August of 2010. Several months ago, I got on board with BtB, and eventually MLBDD. Other than that, I think Shaun Marcum is an awesome pitcher.
I write a Giants blog. I also write for MLB Daily Dish and Beyond the Box Score.
I’m Lizard and I’m from Albany, NY. I’m 17 and a huge Yankees fan. I play basketball and little guitar. Of all the SB Nation blogs, I mainly read Pinstripe Alley. They have some really great writers. And while I don’t really comment over here, I do read just about every story. MLBDD is my go-to site for MLB news. By the way, despite my username, I am actually a female. I just happen to be a big Melky Cabrera fan.
I wouldn't say I'm crazy. Maybe an eccentric who looks good in jeans.
Welcome Lizard/Melkman!
I’m impressed with anyone that is willing to name themselves after Melky. And don’t hesitate to comment — we read every single one of them and they help guide our coverage. Keep in touch!

I'm Griffin!
I am from Seattle and a Mariners believer (2017?!) along with Washington State University and the Seahawks. I love reading Beyond the Boxscore along with this site and MinorLeagueBall with John Sickels. I play baseball for my highschool team, and my goal is to have a job in baseball. I’d love to write for a site like this and I occasionally post some of my dorky writing on BTBscore, and sorry for the late comment I’ve been very busy the last few weeks

I am from New Jersey and am a huge Dodgers fan and Chiefs fan. I also follows the Knicks, Les Habitants, Notre Dame and Boise State in college football. I am married with 2 kids who keep my wife and I busy, especially the older one, who plays travel soccer year round, gymnastics and dance.
I started my career as an accountant and am now a business analyst for an accounting software company. I am older than most here, I am pretty sure, but that doesn;t stop me from writing about the sport I love-fantasy baseball.
I manage SB Nation’s fantasy sports site-Fake Teams and have been doing so for a little over 2 years now. I also write for John Sickels over at Minor League Ball talking about the fantasy impact of prospects, and here talking MLB Trade Rumors for MLB Daily Dish.
Like I said, I am older than most, and enjoy listening to 60’s and 70’s music including the Grateful Dead, Dark Star Orchestra, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, etc.
I am not a big movie guy, mainly because I read and write fantasy baseball 24/7/365. The season doesn’t stop for me. Movies I like are Good Fellas, Rounders and Wedding Crashers.
The sites I read are Baseball Nation and all the team and general baseball sites, Buster Olney and Keith Law over at ESPN. Kevin Goldstein over at BP, the guys over at Baseball America, Fangraphs, Razzball, and a few stock market investing sites including Caracommunity.com run by a great man, Bill Cara.

I’ve been to 4 games at Arrowhead….the last being the Giants game 2 years ago. Stayed at the Aloft hotel in Leawood, KS….they have a nice sportsbar (810 or something like that) in the same complex as the hotel. Had a great time.
And Arrowhead is the best stadium I’ve been to…..when the team is good, that stadium rocks. Been to ATL, SEA, NYG, NYJ, PHI, NO, OAK….none compare.

Plesh here
I’m from NJ and entering my senior year for civil engineering. I’m a big Yankees fan but I will have a realistic conversation about anything regarding baseball. I also like the Devils and Giants (basketball eh, I guess the Nets). My favorite player is Yogi Berra (always wear #8) and my favorite recent player is/was/will always be Bernie Williams. I would have killed to see Ruth/Gehrig/Mantle/Williams/Cobb hit just once. I always have goosebumps when I listen to Gehrig’s famous speech.
I love Linkin Park, Avenged Sevenfold, Pearl Jam, and Three Days Grace.
I love Talladega Nights, Anchorman, All 3 Bourne Movies (1.Supremacy 2.Ultimatum 3.Identity), The Departed, and Man on Fire. My favorite sports movie of all time is Bad News Bears (yes the original).
Finnaly, I love to read Beyond the Boxscore and FanGraphs (gotta get in my daily dose of sabermetric talk). RiverAveBlues and Pinstripe Alley are my Yankees sites. I still play baseball all summer long (civil engineering + college baseball=5+ year degree) and can never get enough of it. I love reading these sites because my friends’ sports knowledge (lack thereof) stops beyond Bar Stool Sports and if you have been on there before you know what I’m talking about.
Thanks

Hi Im Michael
Im 17 and entering my first year of college. Im from Alberta, (Western Canada) like everyone else here im a huge Jays fan and I watch almost every game I can, ive been to 6 games in my life all at Rogers Center and they were all fantastic. My favourite players are Adam Lind, John McDonald and Roy Halladay. I came across SB Nation totally by accident but ive found that each blog is as good as the next so you could call me hooked. I love reading Bluebird Banter and Drunk Jays Fans. I dont comment a lot but I read daily. Thanks for having me aboard!
Are there many baseball fans in Canada?
It doesn’t seem like it based on the attendance at the Jays games.

Hey Michael, welcome!
That’s exactly how I discovered SBN. I found Arrowhead Pride (the biggest, best, and awesomest Chiefs site) and was a commenter for a long time before I started looking around. Eventually I discovered that it was an entire network of professionally run blogs targeted directly at giving voice to the fans.

Hockey for me!
Found out about Litterbox Cats and Matchsticks and Gasoline (Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames) I began only reading here and there but began joining in live game threads and then have expanded into all my favourite teams. A semi productive way to enjoy my day id say :)
If it wasn't big
Why do we still have a team? Canadians coast to coast really do love this team, watch a Mariners game vs Toronto in Seattle and you’ll see about a 50/50 split in jays and mariners fans. Everyone here either has a hat or bluejays jersey. It is a big deal here, every game is televised nation wide and you can talk ball with most people here. Everyone remembers the glory days (not me though haha) and lots of people have made at least one trip to TO to see the Jays. They represent more than Toronto, they represent Canada and we love them.
The marlins still have a team lol
What is the attitude up there in Canada about AA pursing a Pujols or Fielder this offseason.

Aaron Hill and his option next year is a large discussion debate, and whoever throws out the cereomonial first pitch is asked if they want to join the bullpen before they leave, but were confident AA can address our needed issues, hasn’t failed us yet!

Hi I'm Ronit!
Well, it’s about time I stop hiding and introduce myself.
I’m Ronit, some people call me Ron for short. I’m a die-hard Yankees fan, and also fan of the NY Giants and New Jersey Nets.
I was born in a small town near Bombay,India and lived there for three years. I then moved to Long Island, NY where I built up my passion for the Yankees, baseball, and writing. My parents owned a convenience store where I would read the sports pages in the daily newspaper every single day. I follow the Nets and NY Giants, but none to the extent I follow the Yankees or baseball.
I’m not a movie buff, but do enjoy following a couple TV series such as Dexter, Entourage, and The League. My favorite series of all-time is without a doubt Seinfeld. I also enjoy listening to rap music from the 90’s and some of the new stuff that is out now. I think the best rap albums ever made are Reasonable Doubt and Illmatic.
Now I am an 18 year old living in Southern California and entering college as a computer science major. We’ll see where life takes me.
Nice TV choices.
Dexter is the best show on TV in my opinion, and The Leagueis freaking hilarious.
I’m also big on True Blood, The Walking Dead, Curb and bunch of other comedies.

Hey Brandon! Good to see you still read.
Seems like I’m saying this a lot lately, but we really do love to hear what you’re thinking, so don’t hesitate to comment. Sometimes it gives an insight that we may be missing because our eyes are bleeding from our various streaming sources, twitter feeds, readers, etc…
Anyway, don’t be a stranger. :)

Don't worry, you won't have a wife.
I wouldn't say I'm crazy. Maybe an eccentric who looks good in jeans.

As long as she understands that if there's a baseball game
on her birthday, her gift will be watching the Yankees win.

I post on VEB a lot
Someone directed me to this site and now I go back and forth between here and MLBTR
RE-SIGN EVERYONE
Welcome welcome! We need more VEB'ers around, I know that.
I mean, of all the teams that should be angsty for a trade.
Hello everybody
I’m a huge baseball fan and my life consists of school, sports, and reading baseball statistics. I’m a high school student and I work for the White Sox during the summer. I want to go into a baseball front office when I’m older to work. I write a little baseball on my baseball blog, but got a concussion recently in wrestling and took a break from that. I visit this website a lot and hope it continues to grow!
Joe
Been here for about a week or so, love the Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, San Antonio Spurs, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Enjoy reading sports news and such, and this sight has the most important sports news for me… Baseball! Love it here. Thanks for giving me a place to go!

Awesome! Thanks for coming, Joe -- I love seeing the comments, it tells me that
whatever it is that we’re doing is working.
You've been doing great
Most of the articles I read I believe are written or posted by you… so yes what your doing is working :).

T.C., obviously.
I live in western Canada, and because we have minimal pro sports teams, I kind of just choose who I like, so my teams are the Dodgers, Clippers, Colts, and Blackhawks. I’m also a massive fantasy sports fan, I play every sport in at least three leagues.

Hi, there!
I’m Michelle. I live in Virginia, but through odd choices as a child, I live and die with the Diamondbacks and Cardinals. I technically claim the Suns and the Maple Leafs, but I don’t follow either too much. I am however a huge University of Virginia fan. As a student, I go to almost every game I can fit into my schedule. I also love fantasy sports!
Name is rather obvious
I got name-changed when I started writing for one of the SBNation sites, and I rather like it. Check us out, we try (and fail mostly) to do a kickboxing slant on MMA. We’re working on it, though.
New York fan, prefer the Mets, Jets and Knicks over the Yankees, Giants and Nets, but I root for them all, because NYC is awesome and you’re not.
