Baltimore Orioles Claim Jo-Jo Reyes

Stay connected for news and updates

According to a report from MLBTR, the Baltimore Orioles have claimed pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes off waivers from the Blue Jays. In order to free up 40-man roster space for Reyes, the Orioles also announced that outfielder Luke Scott has been transferred to the 60-day DL.

Reyes, 26, had been designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last week after making 20 starts for the club. While it's easy to knock Reyes for his ugly ERA this year, it's worth noting that his FIP, xFIP and SIERA marks all fall in the 4.55-4.65 range, indicating that he ran into some bad luck this season.

While he's certainly not an impact player by any means, Reyes should give the Orioles some additional pitching depth, and I'm guessing that they consider it a positive that he already has AL East experience.
