  Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd was resistant to paying "full price'' for Rodriguez, a baseball source told ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick. Rodriguez is owed $37 million from 2012 through 2014.
• Carlos Pena on New York Yankees' waiver claim -- "I'm staying with Chicago Cubs"
  "It's very flattering to see the interest, but it's even more flattering to see how the Cubs pulled back and retained me," Pena said after the Cubs' 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.
• Former Cy Young winner Mike Flanagan found dead outside home
  Mike Flanagan, a former Cy Young winner and part of the Baltimore Orioles' 1983 World Series championship team, has died. He was 59.

• Daniel Hudson leads Arizona Diamondbacks past Washington Nationals
  Hudson (13-9) allowed nine hits, struck out six, walked none and threw 102 pitches before he hit the wall at 8-2/3 innings. J.J. Putz then came on to retire Wilson Ramos on a foul out to first for his 32nd save.
• Coco Crisp Hits 2 Home Runs in One Night
  Oakland center fielder Coco Crisp had the game of his life on Wednesday, going a perfect 4-for-4 and driving in five runs on the strength of two round-trippers.
• Ramon Hernandez on waivers?
  Danny Knobler of cbssports.com reported that Reds catcher Ramon Hernandez is on waivers. The San Francisco Giants are known to be interested in Hernandez. If they claim him, the Reds could work out a trade. If Hernandez clears waivers, the Reds could trade him to any team.
