- The Texas Rangers outrighted infielder Omar Quintanilla to Class Triple-A Round Rock, the club announced. The move was made to clear room on the active roster for both catcher Matt Treanor and left-handed reliever Michael Gonzalez. The infielder hit .045/.045/.136 in 23 plate appearances at the majors, but is hitting a modest .298/.369/.452 for the Rangers PCL (Pacific Coast League) affiliate.
- The Cincinnati Reds outrighted outfielder Fred Lewis to Class Triple-A Louisville, the club announced. The move was made to make room on the active roster for outfielder Chris Heisey. Lewis, 30, hit a career worst .230/.321/.317 for the Reds, capped off with a 4-for-42 in the month of August.
