The Baltimore Orioles outrighted infielder Blake Davis to Class Triple-A Norfolk, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN SPORTS. The news comes less than two days after Davis was designated for assignment. Blake Davis spent most of the year in Class Triple-A Norfolk, where he hit .280/.323/.384 with 5 homers in 252 plate appearances.
The Florida Marlins released second baseman Alfredo Amezaga from the organization, according to the club's transactions page. Amezaga was designated for assignment two days ago. The second baseman hit .136/.208/.136 in only 49 plate appearances this season.
Philadelphia Phillies minor leaguer Zach Collier suspended 50 games for testing positive for an amphetamine, according to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. The 20-year-old Collier was taken in the first round of the 2008 Amateur draft, but has struggled as a pro. He's hitting .255/.328/.349 in the South Atlantic League this season with only 1 home run, but has swiped 35 bases.
