Mets Sign Omar Quintanilla To Minor League Contract
The New York Mets have signed backup middle infielder Omar Quintanilla to a minor league contract, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN. Rubin notes that the Mets have Justin Turner available off the bench, but could use a player like Quintanilla at shortstop.
Andy McCullough is confirming the story and Mark Simon has a hysterical heatmap which should comfort Mets fans:

"Quintanilla, 30, appeared in 11 games for the Texas Rangers last season. He went 1-for-22 (.045) with a triple, two RBIs and nine strikeouts. At Triple-A Round Rock, Quintanilla hit .298 with a five homers and 25 RBIs in 208 at-bats."

Pretty much a Jose Reyes doppelganger.
