According to Ken Rosenthal, the Los Angeles Angels and Howie Kendrick have reached an agreement on a four-year contract, pending a physical. Kendrick, 28, was entering his final year of arbitration eligibility. The deal also buys out his first three years of free agency. The second baseman has hit .292/.329/.434 over the first six seasons of his career, good for a 105 OPS+.
Kendrick is coming off the best season of his career, a year in which he hit .285/.338/.464 with a career-high 125 OPS+. His performance earned him his first all-star nod, and at 5.8 fWAR, he rated among the best in baseball at his position.
