Huff will get the $2 million buyout in lieu of the $10 million option.

The San Francisco Giants will decline their $10 million contract option on veteran corner infielder/outfielder Aubrey Huff, reports Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area:

A big part of the Giants’ World Series squad in 2010, the 35-year-old Huff played a more and more limited role for the Giants this season because of the emergence of Brandon Belt, knee problems and struggles with an anxiety disorder. Huff appeared in just fifty-two games for the Giants this season, hitting .192/.326/.282 with a lone home run in ninety-five plate appearances.

A thirteen-year major league veteran, Huff is a .278/.342/.464 career hitter with two hundred forty-two home runs. It is possible the aging lefty hitter will latch on with a club as a bench bat, but retirement also seems a likely possibility for Huff.
