While the Mets aren’t expected to be active on the free agent market this winter, they’re also resolved to make every attempt to re-sign third baseman David Wright and National League Cy Young candidate R.A. Dickey.
Alderson believes the team is in a position to sign Wright and Dickey to contract extension. Both players have expressed interest in remaining with the club, while Dickey has specifically said that he would be more inclined to stay if the Mets attempt to stay competitive in the short-term while they grow for the future.
