The Angels have signed catcher Chris Iannetta to a three-year extension.

The Los Angeles Angels’ regular season ended Wednesday and they’ve already made their first significant move of the offseason. The team has signed catcher Chris Iannetta to a three-year contract extension, reports Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.

The Angels acquired Iannetta this offseason from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for right-hander Tyler Chatwood. Entering the year as the Angels everyday catcher, Iannetta sustained a fractured wrist early in May which caused him to miss nearly three months of action.

After hitting .241/.328/.481 through the month of April, the 29-year-old returned to hit .306/.378/.500 in August. He struggled over the final month-plus of the season, finishing the year hitting.240/.332/.398 with six doubles and nine home runs over 221 at-bats.

Prior to joining the Angels, Iannetta hit .235/.357/.430 over six seasons with the Rockies. The 2012 season was the final guaranteed year of his previous contract, which included a $5 million option for 2013.
