The Angels' top offseason priority is finding a way to re-sign Greinke ("huge priority," one Angels person said).
Yesterday the Angels dealt right-hander Ervin Santana to the Kansas City Royals. They are looking to do the same with right-hander Dan Haren, as they are expected to complete a trade by this weekend.
While they could have elected to retain Santana and/or Haren for next season and put off the hunt for starting pitching help, they’ve seemingly decided to put all their eggs into Greinke’s basket. The right-hander appears to be open to re-signing with Los Angeles, but since he’s the top starting pitcher available this winter his market could take a while to develop.
After being acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers this summer Greinke posted an ERA of 3.53 over 13 starts for the Angels.
