Blue Jays rumors: Toronto interested in Shaun Marcum

Toronto may look to bring the right-hander back over the border.

The Toronto Blue Jays have made calls to inquire on bringing right-hander Shaun Marcum back to the Rogers Centre, reports Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun:

The Jays called to inquire about the market price for former Jays right-hander, free agent Shaun Marcum, who went 20-11 with a 3.60 ERA in 44 starts for the Milwaukee Brewers in two seasons after being dealt for Brett Lawrie.

Marcum, 30, spent his first six seasons in Toronto before being traded to the Brewers following the 2010 season. The right-hander missed all of the 2009 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, but had measurable success with the Blue Jays when healthy. Marcum posted a 3.85 ERA, 2.8 BB/9 and 7.3 K/9 in his five healthy seasons with Toronto.

Marcum was on a one-year, $7.73 million contract with the Brewers this past season, and could be in line for a small raise if injury concerns do not drive his price down. Marcum missed sixty-one games this season due to elbow tightness but still put up a 3.70 ERA in twenty-one starts.
