Former Giant Melky Cabrera has been signed by the Blue Jays for two years and $16 million.
The Toronto Blue Jays made yet another deal Friday, inking outfielder Melky Cabrera to a two-year, $16 million deal, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports:
hard to judge reported melky/jays $16M/2 yr deal. if hes star of kc/sf, terrific. if he's zaftig loser of atl, waste of $

The relatively small amount and risk involved in the deal was a product of Cabrera’s drug suspension. Cabrera, 28, was not extended an offer from his former team, the Giants, and was a point of controversy in baseball last season.
After a fantastic 114 games and talks of MVP, he was suspended 50 games for testing positive for testosterone. Cabrera batted .346 (second in MLB), 11 HRs, 60 RBIs, 13 SBs, and a .906 OPS last season.
The Giants never reinstated him and played 11 games in the postseason after Cabrera was eligible to return.
The Blue Jays add Cabrera days after their blockbuster trade with the Marlins that netted Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, Emilio Bonifacio, and John Buck.
