Yankees to re-sign Hiroki Kuroda

The New York Yankees and right-handed starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda have agreed to terms on an one-year deal, according to Buster Olney of ESPN, meaning the veteran will be back in pinstripes for another season.

Kuroda, 37, earned $10 million last season with the Yankees and earlier in the offseason declined their one-year, $13.3 million qualifying offer. He will turn his fantastic 2011 campaign into a raise for 2013, according to ESPN's Buster Olney, who reports Kuroda will earn $15 million with incentives that could push it near $16 million.

The veteran right-handed starting pitcher received interest from a few other teams, including the Los Angeles Angels and Dodgers, but also teams from his native Japan. Kuroda posted a 3.32 ERA across 219 2/3 innings of work last season.
