The new deals Cleveland extended to Carson and Hunter include invitations to major league spring training.
Hunter spent last season with the St. Louis Cardinals’ Triple-A affiliate, hitting .268/.355/.375 with 19 doubles, two triples and five home runs over 355 at-bats. The 24-year-old made his major league debut in 2011 with the San Diego Padres, collecting one hit in four at-bats, and owns a career line of .288/.348/.390 over seven seasons in the minors.
Carson appeared in 26 games with the Minnesota Twins last season, collecting 15 hits, including one double, over 66 at-bats. He spent most of the season with Minnesota’s Triple-A club, hitting .282/.347/.457 with 28 doubles, two triples and 14 home runs over 422 at-bats.
The 31-year-old Carson owns a career line of .211/.224/.319 over 166 major league at-bats, while he’s hit .264/.326/.448 over 11 seasons at the minor league level.
