The Toronto Blue Jays have designated right-hander Cory Wade, infielder Mike McCoy and first baseman Mike McDade for assignment.

The Toronto Blue Jays have designated right-hander Cory Wade, infielder Mike McCoy and first baseman Mike McDade for assignment, the team has announced:

Toronto designated the trio for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster for shortstop Ryan Goins and catcher A.J. Jimenez.

McDade has spent six seasons in the Blue Jays’ minor league system. Over that span he’s hit at a clip of .265/.323/.420. Last season he hit .285/.360/.445 with 19 doubles and 17 home runs over 449 at-bats between Double- and Triple-A.

McCoy has spent the past three seasons playing between the minors and majors for the Blue Jays. The 31-year-old owns a line of .190/.273/.256 over parts of four seasons at the major league level.

Wade appeared in 39 games for the New York Yankees last season, posting an ERA of 6.46. The 29-year-old was far more effective for New York in 2011 (2.04 ERA over 40 appearances).
