Wise signed a free agent contract with the New York Yankees last January. He played in 56 games for the Yankees before they released him in July. The 34-year-old went on to sign with the White Sox, but he hit the open market following the season.
Wise spent two seasons with the White Sox in 2008-09 before signing with a string of teams. He’s spent parts of 10 seasons at the major league level with the Toronto Blue Jays, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Miami Marlins, Yankees and White Sox.
Last season over 101 games with the Yankees and White Sox Wise hit .259/.293/.429 with 10 doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 19 stolen bases in 23 attempts while manning all three outfield positions. He’s hit .228/.264/.385 over his 10 seasons at the major league level.
