The 28-year-old Thomas spent the 2012 season pitching in relief for the Red Sox and Yankees, acquired by the latter off waivers in mid-May. The left-hander made just eleven big-league appearances altogether this past season, posting an 8.22 ERA and 8.2 K/9 rate. Thomas has made short bullpen stints with four different clubs over the past five seasons, and owns a 6.93 ERA in twenty-four and two-thirds innings overall.
Perez, 23, was signed out of Venezuela in 2006 by the Angels and has spent the last seven seasons in the Halos' farm system. The switching-hitter utility infielder is a career .253/.348/.338 hitter in the minors, having spent most of the last three years at Double-A.
