The Boston Red Sox have traded right-hander Zach Stewart to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for a player to be named later, the team has announced:

The transaction marks the fourth time Stewart has been traded in the last three-plus years. He was dealt by the Cincinnati Reds, the team that drafted him, to the Toronto Blue Jays along with Edwin Encarnacion and Josh Roenicke in exchange for Scott Rolen in July of 2009. Two summers later the Jays shipped him to the Chicago White Sox along with Jason Frasor in exchange for Edwin Jackson and Mark Teahan. Then this summer the White Sox traded him to the Red Sox as part of the Kevin Youkilis deal.

Stewart appeared in 20 games, including three starts, last season for the White Sox and Red Sox, posting an ERA of 8.58 over 35 2/3 innings pitched. He owns a career ERA of 6.82 over two seasons at the major league level.
