Rosario spent the 2012 season with the Miami Marlins, allowing six runs on eight hits with two strikeouts over three innings. The Red Sox claimed him off waivers from the Marlins in Oct.
Rosario has allowed 13 runs over 7 2/3 innings over parts of three seasons at the major league level. The 27-year-old spent most of last season pitching in the Marlins’ minor league system. Over 31 combined appearances, including two starts, with Miami’s High-, Double- and Triple-A clubs he maintained an ERA of 1.99 with 8.2 strikeouts and 1.4 walks per nine innings.
Over seven seasons in the minors Rosario has posted an ERA of 3.48.
