The San Diego Padres signed outfielder Travis Buck and re-signed catcher Eddy Rodriguez and right-hander Daniel Stange to minor league contracts.
The new deals signed by Buck, Rodriguez and Stange with the Padres include invites to major league spring training.
Buck spent the 2012 season with the Houston Astros, hitting .216/.284/.311 over 74 at-bats. The 29-year-old also played for the team’s Double- and Triple-A squads, hitting .306/.379/.412 with six doubles and one home run over 85 at-bats.
In six seasons at the major league level Buck has hit .243/.316/.399 while manning all three outfield positions.
Rodriguez made his major league debut with the Padres last season, collecting one hit, a home run, in five at-bats. The 26-year-old spent most of the season in the minors where he hit .217/.264/.373 over 101 games.
Stange spent 2012 in the Arizona Diamondbacks and Padres minor league systems, posting an ERA of 4.09 over 54 appearances.
